Homework Policy

Your child will receive a homework grade in each of the subject areas (Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Each student will start off with a 100% in each of these areas and he/she will keep that 100% throughout each quarter if their homework comes in each day complete.
For each missed or incomplete assignment, your child will bring home a pink homework slip that needs to be signed and returned to school the next day. If they do not return the homework slip the next day with their completed assignment, they will owe us classroom cash.
Your child will also lose 5 points off their homework grade in that subject for each day an assignment is late (or 10 points if it is a long-term project, such as a book report). At the end of the quarter, the points will be added up and subtracted from the 100%, which will be counted as a quiz grade in that subject area.
After 3 missed or incomplete homework assignments in a subject area, students will receive detention during recess.
Of course, if there are extenuating circumstances, the points will not be taken off your child's homework grade! Please just send in a note the morning the homework is due, or send us an e-mail to explain why it isn't completed and the assignment will not be counted in the grade.
