As a reminder, the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA), formerly known as the PARCC Assessment,  will begin for the Highland School tomorrow April 30th. This is a state test that all public school students take every year. To ensure that the students are ready to test please have students go to bed at a decent time, arrive to school on time, and eat breakfast as they will be testing first thing in the morning.

Students only need headphones and a free-reading book (Most all students have headphones already and we have plenty of extra headphones if needed---- so please do not panic).

Students will do one test session a day. Please see the schedule below for testing dates.

  • Language Arts: April 30 -- May 2.
  • Math: May 14 -- May 16.
  • Science (5th grade only): May 29 and May 30.

*** Make up sessions will be arranged for absences.

Should you have any questions please let me know. As always thanks for your support, it is much appreciated-

Sincerely,

Peter Galasso

P.E. Star of the Month

Highland School's Physical Education Department has created a program called the P.E. Star of the Month. A certificate is presented to one student per grade level each month who exhibited exceptional behavior, effort, participation, and sportsmanship. We are excited about our new tradition of honoring students who work really hard every single time they step foot in the gym. We are proud of these students and feel they deserve to be recognized.

Students recognized for the month of April:
3rd Grade-Lyla W.
4th Grade-Grace Y.
5th-Daniel F.
6th Grade-Andrea C.

School District and School Grades Required by the Anti-
Bullying Bill of Rights Act – June 13, 2018

As per the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (ABR) (P.L., 2010, c122), the Midland Park Public Schools has posted its Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act grades to the school district’s HIB webpage, and to each individual school’s webpage. In order to foster safe and positive learning conditions for students, the school and district grades are part of an integrated process for reinforcing and strengthening a school’s climate and culture through prevention and intervention efforts targeted toward harassment, intimidation and bullying. Please click on the headline above to find the district and school ABR grades.
