What's Happening

Welcome to our class website!  Here are some great websitesto practice your skills and keep up to date on important information!
  • I am currently assessing the class in Fountas and Pinnell, and they will soon receive their current reading level.  The 'letter'  they receive is their instructional level.  When they are reading independently, they should choose a letter 1 - 2 letters below this.  For example, if their instructional level is O, they should pick an M or N to read for reading independently.
  • In Math, we are learning number sense and addition strategies.  We are reviewing the properties of addition including the commutative, associative, and identity properties of addition.  We will discuss estimation and learn several mental math strategies.
  • In Social Studies we are practicing  Map skills.  Students will be able to locate and identify the continents, oceans, use lines of latitude and longitude, identify hemisphers and use a map key.
  • In Science we will learn about the states of matter.
  • Please make sure you touch base with your child regarding their homework every night. If you have a concern with a particular skill, please feel free to email us or send in a note!  Don't forget to clean out your homework folder and backpack.  Being organized is a major key to success in school!
  • If you get a minute, please read your child’s Friday Journal over the weekend! The students are excited to share with you all the great things we are learning about in school. They really enjoy seeing a note back from you!
  • Remember….Keep reading and practice your math facts each night! Reading Logs are due every Friday.

Use IXL for extra practice and enrichment!  There are great activities to do at home!
