Highland Students- "Do the Right Thing"
Posted on 10/15/2014
"Do the Right Thing" is the Highland school mantra for the
2014-2015 school year. Our students are not only expected to try hard in
their academics, but also to do right by one another. Through September
and October teachers have been diligent in e-mailing me the names and
acts of students that embody this "Do the Right Thing" mentality.
Recently a school wide assembly was held in which students were
recognized for the positive things they did over the past 6 weeks, this
included students who were caught voluntarily helping one of their
classmates or teachers. 8 students who did the right thing were
recognized in front of the school and given a T-Shirt with the slogan,
"Do the Right Thing" on the front. It is my sincere hope that students
will continually EARN the shirts for their acts of voluntary kindness.
Hopefully one day we will have 100 Do the Right Thing shirts walking
around the building. In the case, the more the better, however, the
shirt is hard to earn because we want to make it as special as possible.
Another assembly will be held to give away a new crop of shirts in
another 6 weeks. If you see a "Do the Right Thing" shirt please
congratulate the child who wears it - they truly did something
selfless.
