Halloween

It is nice when kids can be kids. Halloween went off without a
hitch at Highland School. Costumes were imaginative and funny. I believe
all students and teachers had a great time, and yes the Principal did
as well. Yes it can be a chaotic day with costumes, and the excitement
of trick or treating and 8th period parties, but I found it
rejuvenating. So much of what Highland School does relies on an ultra
focus on the education of children, pushing them to succeed in the
classroom, pushing them to complete their HW, monitoring behaviors
consistently to make sure they are doing right by each other, and
Halloween allows us to take a step back and remember what it is like to
be young. It was a lot of fun to see all the students' personalities
coming out in the costumes they chose and the playfulness coming out in
the parities 8th period. Thank-you to all those who brought in food and
helped out with the parties. It was a success. Now back to normalcy, but
November is a difficult month educationally. Teachers convention,
Parent Teacher conferences, and Thanksgiving break up the routine a bit.
Let's do the best we can to try and keep the students focused.
